Robbers have stolen cash in a late-night raid at a petrol station in Burnham-On-Sea.

Two men threatened a cashier at the Esso garage in Burnham Road at 11.25pm on Monday (January 26th).

They then seized a small quantity of cash from a till before fleeing. Staff at the garage raised the alarm and police were quickly on scene.

The force’s helicopter was seen circling over the area for around 20 minutes until 12.30am as the investigation into the incident got underway.

Police spokesman Craig Evry confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “At about 11.25pm last night, two men went into the TCS Viscount garage in Burnham Road, Highbridge, and stole a quantity of money from a till. There was a shop assistant in the garage at the time, who was shaken but unharmed.”

“The men had their faces partially covered. They were both white. One was described as medium build, around 6ft, in his twenties, while the second was in his early twenties, around 5ft 7ins and of skinny build.”

“If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious in the area, or has information which could assist the inquiry, please call us via 101 and quote log number 9193/15.”
