Local cyclists set to pedal to Paris to raise funds for charity

Two cyclists from the Burnham-On-Sea area are set to pedal from Clevedon to Paris next month to raise funds for charity.

Wayne Harding, 63, from Mark and Wayne Jones from Wedmore will be cycling with a group of other fundraisers a total of 270 miles.

“They will be setting off on Friday 18th September and aim to arrive on Monday 21st September, raising money for WaterAid,” said a spokesman.

“The route will see them cycle 63 miles from Clevedon to Salisbury on the first day, then 48 miles from Salisbury to Portsmouth on the second day.”

“On Sunday they’ll arrive in France by ferry and cycle from Caen to Evreux which is 89 miles, to be followed on Monday 21st September by a 70 mile ride into Paris.”

Both cyclists have recently completed the Great Weston Ride, which was a mere 56 miles which they completed in just over four hours.

The two have Just Giving pages online here and here for donations.
