A group of volunteers who run Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens on the town’s seafront have been thanked for their work as part of National Volunteers Week.

The Friends of Marine Cove were thanked by Gill Slocombe, Sedgemoor’s Portfolio Holder for Community Development and Scrutiny, during a special ceremony in the gardens.

“The volunteers were thanked for their hard work since the project started and they raised a toast to the future of the garden,” said Marine Cove Community Gardener Jacqui Strong.

The volunteers help with the maintenance in the garden and also create new flower beds and help the free events held in the gardens.

There are several events running through the summer with the first being a Teddy Bears Picnic on Wednesday 22nd July. If you are interested in helping contact Jacqueline.strong@sedgemoor.gov.uk
