Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens became the centre of the town’s Easter celebrations on Saturday (April 4th).

The seafront gardens hosted a morning of Easter family fun, including craft activities and a colourful Easter bonnet parade.

The event, run by Sedgemoor District Council’s community gardener Jacqui Strong, also included a popular Easter egg hunt with several prizes up for grabs.

“It was another successful event in the garden, with over 200 people visiting during the two hours of Easter Fun,” said Jacqui. “The event was designed with families in mind, the activities on offer were all free and we saw Eggberts having an identity created, flowers being created out of tissue paper, biscuits being decorated (and eaten) and bird feeders being made to take home and display in the children’s gardens!”

“During the morning the children were busy hunting out the Easter Eggs around Marine Cove and the event was bought to a close with a colourful display of Easter Bonnets.”

The event has been supported by the Friends of Marine Cove, Sedgemoor District Council and Morrisons who supplied funds to buy some of the eggs and all the biscuits.

The picture competition is to be judged this week and the local WI will be assisting with this.
