Family rescued after their car gets stuck in mud on Brean beach

A mother and baby were led to safety after getting their vehicle stuck on Brean Beach on Tuesday evening (July 21st).

The car was driven almost half a mile down the beach towards the sea when its wheels became stuck in the soft sand and mud, prompting a call-out for the team from Burnham charity BARB Search & Rescue, as pictured here.

The beach warden called for the help to pull the stranded vehicle free. BARB's 4x4 vehicles were used to safely tow the stuck car up the beach.

The family, from Birmingham, had been visiting the beach on a day trip and were grateful for the help of the rescue service.

A new warning has been issued to motorists after the incident about keeping clear of mud and soft sand.

"We always advise motorists to keep to the hard sand at the top of the beach in the allocated parking areas and never to get tempted to drive out into the mud and soft sand," said a BARB spokesman.
