A new Women’s Institute group called The Burnham Belles has been formed in Burnham-On-Sea.

The brand new group aims to attract all ages of women with an interesting programme of speakers through the year.

Over 40 women came along to the first meeting earlier this month, pictured, when a new committee was formed and the group’s name was agreed.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd February at 7.30pm. The group has decided to hold its regular meetings at The Avenue Tennis Club in The Grove, Burnham.

“February’s meeting will involve some administration, including taking the annual subscriptions for the group of £36, which covers the venue costs and speakers,” said the group’s President Jacqui Strong.

“We also want to talk about future activities the members would like to take part in. Being a new group the committee are interested to know what interests people have and generate the speakers, demonstrations from this. We are keen to work out a logo for the group so if you have any ideas, please come along and join in.”

If you are interested in finding out more about the WI visit www.thewi.org.uk or for more information contact Jacqui on 01278 780997. If you are a speaker or could offer a demonstration please also get in contact.

In the event that any changes to the venue are made, we will post in the forum and notify Burnham-On-Sea.com to publicise. Due to the success of our first meeting we are keen to ensure the venue chosen is big enough to meet our needs and accessible.
