Bunting and flags have gone up in Burnham-On-Sea to bring a splash of extra colour to the heart of the town.

Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds, pictured in Victoria Street, says the bunting will be in place over the summer season to make the town more welcoming.

“I am really pleased to see the bunting installed. As a seaside town it seems an appropriate way to embrace the summer season,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The process of agreeing the locations, type of bunting and fixing method look longer than I anticipated, but I think it adds a positive dimension to the street scene throughout the town centre.”

“It hasn’t been possible to hang it everywhere due to the stipulated clearances needed over the roads and some landlords didn’t want it attached to their properties.”

“It has been good to be able to work with a local firm, Groves Xtreme Clean, on the installation.”

New flag pole brackets have also been installed over the past few days and colourful flags have been installed on prominent buildings.

“The brackets are going up to replace some older, rusted ones and to enable the whole town to be decorated when there are events on, like carnival, FolkFest and Somerset Day,” added Bev.
