Photos: Boris Johnson makes flying election visit to Burnham-On-Sea

London Mayor Boris Johnson made a flying visit to Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday (April 15th) as the General Election campaign continued in earnest.

He made a special visit to the town, meeting residents, enjoying an ice cream, and also calling in at BARB Search & Rescue on the seafront.

There, he met the charity's volunteer crewmembers before joining a training session on Burnham beach accompanied by Tory election candidate James Heappey where they took a flight in BARB's Light Of Elizabeth rescue hovercraft.

Mr Johnson, a former MP who is standing in the General Election for the London constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip, has previously been tipped as a possible future leader of the Conservative Party.

He gave his backing to Mr Heappey, saying he would be "a first rate MP", and he went on to back the local tourism economy and also pledge his party's support for small charities.

Boris met several local residents during his visit and answered questions on the Conservative's policies on pensioners, housing and the homeless in his stride.
