Burnham fundraiser beats her fear of heights to complete 100ft abseil

-

A Burnham-On-Sea mum has overcome her fear of heights by abseiling down a 100ft cliff to raise money for a local good cause.

Nikki Day has raised more than £900 for Somerset Time For Youth, a local support group that has helped her young son.

Nikki’s son was recently diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and she decided to do the nerve-racking abseil to help raise funds.

“My little boy was recently diagnosed and Somerset Time For Youth has provided us with a safe environment to meet other families with special needs children, without judgement,” she explained.

“Somerset Time For Youth need funds so they can continue to support people like my son and me, so I thought about what I could do to help and decided to undertake the abseil.”

“I would like to say a very big thank you to all those local people and businesses for sponsoring me.”

Somerset Time For Youth is a local non-profit making organisation, run by volunteers, and recently celebrated its first anniversary in Burnham, as we reported.

The group has also thanked Burnham’s Ritz Cinema, which has recently donated a showing of a film to the group.

The group has another event coming soon – an evening of mediumship with well-known local medium Trevor Jones on 5th June at the Somerset & Dorset in Burnham High Street. The event starts at 7pm and tickets cost £5. They are available from the pub or by calling 07745 326 742.
