Highbridge town centre to get new £7,500 Christmas lights

-

Grant funding has been awarded to the town by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council towards the replacement of its Christmas lights.

Highbridge Chamber of Trade Chairman Mike Murphy, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve been using our current blue Christmas lights for over five years now. Ther were acquired from the town council after being used along Burnham seafront, so we are definitely due to get some new ones.”

“We are therefore spending around £7,500 to buy 30 new colourful lights which will be on show this Christmas to create a livelier, warmer street scene. They have been ordered and are due to be installed and switched on in early December.”

“The Town Council has given us £2,500 a year for the past few years which we have been storing to buy the new lights – so we are grateful to the council for its support.”

The town’s Christmas tree, to be located besides the Frank Foley statue in Market Street, has been supplied by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.
