Schools in the Burnham-On-Sea area celebrate World Book Day

-

Schools in the Burnham-On-Sea area have been marking World Book Day with a range of reading activities.

Youngsters at St Joseph’s in Burnham and West Huntspill Primary School were among the local schools taking part in the global celebration.

The St Joseph’s children mixed with pupils from other classes at their school to share books with a reading buddy. They also took part in a bookmark art competition in which the children were invited to design bookmarks based on their favourite book or book character.

Children and staff at West Huntspill Primary School have also celebrated World Book Day this week by enjoying a book at bedtime, pictured right.

Everyone dressed in their pyjamas and enjoyed a bedtime story with a supper. Pictured here are Year 6 pupils Georgia and Elicia reading stories to the KS1 class.

World Book Day is in its 17th year and it aims to get more children reading across the globe.
