Burnham-On-Sea MP presses David Cameron for better cancer care

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP Tessa Munt has met the Prime Minister with top clinical oncologist Nick Van As and England Rugby Star and campaigner Lawrence Dallaglio to call for better care for cancer patients.

“We were there to press David Cameron on increasing access to advanced radiotherapy for cancer patients,” said Tessa.

“In many situations, this type of cutting edge radiotherapy is more effective, quicker, less painful, and cheaper than drugs, yet the Government currently spends far more on pills than radiotherapy.”

The MP has asked over 200 Parliamentary questions on the issue and held many meetings with experts, ministers and cancer patients.

“It was an important milestone to finally brief the Prime Minister on this,” she added.

“He’s promised to go and look at the problems and our solutions and we’re hopeful that he’ll come back with the right answers.”
