Burnham Tesco store raises £1,800 in a week for Somerset flood fund

-

Shoppers at Burnham-On-Sea’s Tesco supermarket have donated more than £1,800 to the Somerset Flood Appeal Fund over the course of a week.

Collection buckets have been filled with coins throughout the past few days by customers keen to help flood-hit residents in other parts of our county.

Jo Lewis, the Burnham store manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve had an amazing response from customers. A huge thank you goes out to them for raising such a superb sum in such a short space of time.”

The funds will be given to the Somerset Community Foundation, which is leading the county’s official flood appeal fund to help communities affected.

Tesco’s stores across the south west aim to raise £50,000 for the fund. The supermarket has also delivered food supplies to affected residents, and also helped to deliver hundreds of bales of hay to flood-hit farms in the county.
