Dozens of charity swimmers in the Burnham-On-Sea area will be taking part in a sponsored Swimarathon today (Sunday).

The annual event is being organised by Burnham Rotary Club and will be held from 10am at Brean Splash.

“We have 15 teams participating this year who will retain all of the money they raise for their own good cause or charity,” organiser Jim Tancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The teams of up to eight swimmers will swim alternate lengths to see how many lengths they can achieve in 50 minutes.

Late additions to the roster are still welcome. “This is your chance to get your school, club, organisation, business or just your family involved. The pool is divided into six lanes and six teams can swim at the same time – it’s a lot of fun and is not a race,” added Jim.
