Highbridge parents warned after schoolgirl is approached by stranger

-

A Highbridge mother has warned parents of schoolchildren to be extra alert after a stranger approached her daughter on the way home from school.

Caroline Hutchins says the incident has been reported to Burnham-On-Sea Police, and wants children to take extra care.

She has advised parents with children at King Alfred School and Churchfield Schools to be vigilant.

“My daughter and her friend got approached by a man last Thursday after school around the Premier Shop. He offered to walk them home and pretended to be friends with their dad,” she said.

“He then proceeded to follow them until Churchfield School. I’m sure all parents make their children aware of strangers and how to handle a situation like that, but just wanted to put it out there that there’s some recent activity on the school route,” she added.
