Burnham-On-Sea taxi driver gears up for sponsored slim

-

A Burnham-On-Sea taxi driver has begun a three-month weight loss challenge to shed three stones and raise funds for a local good cause.

Phil Cooke has recently been diagnosed as a diabetic and is keen to improve his overall health.

Therefore, he’s joined Burnham’s Slimming World group and hopes to raise funds for a local hospice during his sponsored slim.

As a former member of Slimming World he remembered being told how ‘food optimisation’ can lose 10 per cent of his body weight and secure health benefits.

Burnham Slimming World’s Keran Parker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Phil’s already doing really well with his weight loss journey while supporting St Margaret’s Hospice with a sponsored slim. He’s following our ‘Extra Easy’ plan where he can still eat without feeling hungry or deprived.”

Phil said: “I’ve already lost 7lb in two weeks and have won the ‘slimmer of the week’ award this week. I’ve struggled with my weight for quite some time and it’s my intention to lose three stone in three months and support the hospice along the way.”

Keran added: “We hope to see more members in our groups as the health benefits are paramount and Diabetes is one of the fastest growing conditions. We want to reach out to as many people as we possibly can.”

Burnham’s Slimming World classes are held at the Town Council Chambers in Jaycroft Road every Monday at 10.00 am and 12.00 noon and also every Tuesday at 3.30pm, 5.15pm and 7pm. For further information, call 01278 793731.
