Witness plea issued by police after Burnham-On-Sea sexual assault

-

Police have issued a new appeal for witnesses following an alleged sexual assault in Burnham-On-Sea last week.

A helicopter and several police teams launched a manhunt after the incident in Burnham’s Frank Foley Parkway on Tuesday June 24th at 11am, as we reported here.

A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “The investigation into this incident is ongoing. We are treating the matter as a sexual assault.”

“The suspect was a white man, 5ft 10ins of medium build, with a day’s growth of stubble on his face.”

“He was wearing a burgundy coloured hooded top, grey tracksuit bottoms and white training shoes.”

“It is thought he ran off towards Tesco. We know there were a number of people in the area at the time who may be able to help us with our enquiries.”

“We are interested in speaking with several separate potential witnesses who weren’t together. They are a black male on foot, and a woman with a young child and possibly a teenager or another adult near to the small drainage bridge in the area.”

“We would like anyone with information to contact Taunton Police on the force number 101, quoting reference 63474/14.”

Alternatively, readers can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
