Have your say on Sedgemoor’s future over the next two decades

-

Residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area have this week been urged to have their say on the future development of the region by getting involved in a consultation on Sedgemoor’s economy.

A draft Economic Development Strategy that sets out a new 20-year vision for Sedgemoor’s economy was launched for consultation at a Sedgemoor Economic Development conference on Tuesday (18th November).

The strategy focuses on increasing employment and improving education and training opportunities for residents, working with the district’s largest and smallest businesses to thrive. It also focuses on increasing growth in the tourism, logistics, construction and low-carbon sectors, and working with partners to regenerate towns and villages.

“The strategy seeks to reflect the challenges and opportunities facing Sedgemoor today, including the development of Hinkley Point and the surge in development and growth seen locally,” said a council spokesperson.

Within the document, there are sections on a new approach to the individual places within Sedgemoor, with specific actions and objectives for Bridgwater, Highbridge and Burnham, Cheddar and the wider rural community.

The draft document is subject to consultation until 31st January 2015. Further details can be found online here alongside sixteen related questions upon which the council is seeking community views.
