Burnham players compete in Somerset schools football tournament

-

Burnham-On-Sea schoolchildren have competed against dozens of other youngsters from across the county in the Somerset schools football tournament.

The annual event, attended by over 360 children, included pupils from Burnham’s St Joseph’s School and Berrow School.

It was run by Bridgwater College’s coaching students, who refereed and scored the games.

Steve Gass, Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership event organiser, added: “This was a trio of county finals with a place in the regional finals awaiting each of the three category winners.”

“The college did a fantastic job in hosting and officiating at the event, and our congratulations go to St Stephens, Ash and Elmhurst schools who were the winners of their competition categories.”

Brendan Dix, Somerset FA Tournament Co-ordinator said: “Somerset FA would like to congratulate Bridgwater College’s students for supporting Somerset Schools FA’s County Finals, run by the Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership. Each student played a valuable part on the day and made a significant contribution to the tournament’s success; those schools in attendance could not speak highly enough of the students and the support they gave.”
