Video: High winds hit UK Land Yachting Championships in Brean

High winds created challenging conditions for the UK’s leading sand yachting enthusiasts when they competed in the British Land Yachting Championships at Brean today (Saturday).

Gusts of strong onshore wind left several participants battling to avoid toppling over during the beach races, pictured here.

26 pilots from across the country are taking part in the second round of the British Land Yachting Championships this weekend.

Organiser Martyn Hayle from Brean Land Yacht Club told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a good day’s racing with plenty of wind, sun, and a smooth beach.”

The event – which continues on Sunday from 10.30am – is organised by Brean Land Yacht Club, which holds training sessions throughout the year and welcomes newcomers.
