Brent Knoll animal centre gets go-ahead to expand with new cattery

-

Proposals to extend Brent Knoll’s RSPCA Animal Rescue Centre have been given the go-ahead this week.

The centre in Brent Road had applied for Full Planning Permission to build a second cattery unit comprising three units in a fenced compound.

The centre’s Rita Hinton said the expansion is needed as the existing faciliies are no longer big enough to cater for the animals passing through the site.

Brent Knoll Parish Council suppported the application, saying it would “provide additioanl employment and improve the on-site facilities at the centre.”

A Sedgemoor District Council spokesperson said the proposed building would not represent an intrusion into the open countryside and that there is no concern regarding noise and disturbance from cars dropping off their cats due to minimal houses in the area.
