Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre held a special Open Day on Saturday (July 5th) when visitors were able to find out more about the many regular activities that are held there every week.

Many of the theatre’s groups were on hand to show visitors what they do and how people can get involved.

And as a special bonus, Princesses Anna and Elsa from the movie Frozen also made a special appearance, delighting children.

“From acting to kurling, and bingo to knitting, it all happens here! The day gave the groups an opportunity to show their activities and attract new members at the same time,” said Princess Manager Sam Nicol.

Princess Chairman Peter Burridge-Clayton added: “It was a very successful day – we were delighted to see a steady flow of visitors to see the tremendous range of activities available.”

“We are also delighted to have welcomed several new volunteers for the Friends of The Princess.”

Among the activities on show were indoor kurling and art, plus displays by Burnham’s Folkfest, Yarn Over, BEES, Burnham Panto Society, the Princess Theatre Company, The Princess Theatre Company, BOSH Youth Theatre and Blue Sky Theatre.

Readers interested in finding out how to join any of these groups or others should call in at the theatre in Princess Street to pick up more information.

There were also tours backstage and an opportunity to see how the theatre’s lighting works during the day – and to try their hand at painting during a number of art sessions.
