£100k project to expand Burnham Pavilion delayed until September

-

The expansion of Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront pier as part of a £100,000 overhaul has been delayed until the autumn.

Louise Parkin, who manages the Pavilion on The Esplanade, was granted permission to install a £60,000 high-tech folding roof and other improvements earlier this year.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have placed the order for the materials, and we would have liked to get the work completed in time for the summer holidays.”

“But the Pavilion will need to be temporarily closed during the work for around five days so to avoid disruption during at the height of the season, we’re delaying the start of the work until September.”

Back in March, The Pavilion was granted approval for the work to install a £60,000 high-tech folding roof and another £40,000 of improvements. Sedgemoor district councillors said they wanted to help the economic vibrancy of the attraction, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
