Staff at Morrisons in Burnham-On-Sea have been taking part in the supermarket chain’s ‘Round the World Cycle Challenge’ this weekend with the aim of cycling 24,902-miles, the circumference of the globe.

The team at Burnham’s Pier Street store have been pedalling a 223-mile section of the challenge on a static bike.

Store general manager Steve Concannon also bravely entered a set of stocks to have wet sponges and buckets of icy cold water thrown over him for donations on Saturday, as pictured here!

Steve said: “We’ve had plenty of great support from staff and customers and hope to raise £1,000 for Sue Ryder’s community care and support in the area.”

The money will enable Sue Ryder, the store’s charity of the year, to create new community services, family support teams and an online support community across the UK, including in the South West.
