Bright weather brought dozens of people to Burnham’s Marine Cove on Bank Holiday Monday (5th May) for a day of traditional May Day festivities.

St Joseph’s School dancers performed a May Pole country dance in the seafront gardens, delighting the crowds of onlookers.

Over 20 children who came dressed as fairies and elves took part in a colourful parade around the Cove, led by Burnham and Highbridge Carnival Queen Emma Nicholson.

There was also singing from Burnham On Song, music from King Alfred Youth Brass Ensemble and the Chalice Morris Men closed the event.

The popular event was organised by The Friends of Marine Cove and Sedgemoor District Council.

Community gardener Jacqui Strong told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great afternoon – we had dry weather and it was fantastic to see such a lot of people enjoying themselves and having a great time.”
