Two people were hurt in a three-car crash at a busy motorway junction near Highbridge on Friday evening (March 7th).

Emergency services were called to junction 23 of the M5 at 7.15pm where a collision took place at the top of the slip road from the southbound carriageway.

Three fire service appliances were sent to the scene in addition to ambulances and police crews. “Crews confirmed this to be a three-vehicle road traffic collision and two casualties with minor injuries were treated on scene by paramedics,” said a spokesman.

Separately, the fire service was also called to a car on fire at 11.15pm on the M5 between Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater on Friday night.

Crews temporarily closed the northbound carriageway to extinguish the blaze.
