Highbridge’s Isleport Recycling Centre escapes latest cash cutbacks

-

Two recycling sites at Coleford and Middlezoy will close while five recycling centres across Somerset will see amended opening hours.

The plans, approved by Somerset Waste Partnership’s governing Board on Friday, are part of efforts to meet savings targets required by Somerset County Council.

Under the council’s medium term financial plan, Somerset Waste Partnership will have £711,900 less funding in 2014/2015 and a total of £2,287,900 less over the next four years.

However, a spokesman confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday that no changes will be made to Highbridge’s Isleport Recycling Centre.

From 1st April, Coleford and Middlezoy Community Recycling Sites will close and the busy Recycling Centres at Bridgwater, Frome, Minehead, Taunton and Yeovil will open from 8am to 4pm every day, including Sundays.

The new arrangements will not affect the opening times of the other nine Recycling Centres, including the Isleport Recycling Centre.

The Highbridge centre shuts for two days a week – on Tuesdays and Wednesdays – and is open from 8am-7pm on Mondays, 8am-4pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is also open on Sundays from 8am-1pm.
