£700 raised for foundation during collection at Burnham birthday party

-

A kind-hearted Burnham-On-Sea woman has raised £700 for a charitable cause after inviting guests to her 70th birthday party to give donations instead of presents for her.

Janet Tancock held a party, attended by over 100 family members and friends, earlier this month.

She invited along talented Highbridge singer Gypsy Watkins to perform a line-up of songs for the audience, plus other entertainers.

She then invited the audience to give donations for a collection on the day to raise funds for the Gypsy and Purple Foundation, a charitable group that aims to create a holiday village for poorly children across the UK as a long-term project.

Janet said: “I heard Gypsy sing at the recent Burnham Civic Service and was so impressed that I thought I must get her along to my party – she is a fantastic vocalist and her performance was superb. I was so delighted that £700 was raised for her children’s project, which is such a great cause.”

Gypsy added: “It was a pleasure to sing at Janet’s party and a wonderful surprise that our Foundation has received such a fantastic sum. We were blown away by it and a big thank you goes to Janet and all involved!”
