Almost £1,300 was raised towards the costs of running Burnham-On-Sea’s FolkFest when organisers held a popular Easter Sunday fundraising music marathon.

The event – which was held at the Princess Theatre – saw live music acts performing over the course of nine hours.

One of the organisers, Dom Wills, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Despite the torrential rain, Burnham’s music lovers still turned out in force for us.”

“A great time was had, bar-takings were up and we ended with a total of just under £1,300 – a shade less than last year but, given the horrendous weather, a very satisfying result.”

“We’d like to thank all the local bands who played for free, our volunteer bar staff, technicians and stewards, and in particular Graham Cook who put in a giant shift as well as providing all the sound equipment.”

Many of Burnham’s most popular acts played, including Vermin, The Winkers and Sun Dog Days, while special guests included singer-songwriter Phil King, Nick and Emily Elswood and Combyne Arvester.
