Burnham-On-Sea firefighter retires after 20 years of front-line service

-

A Burnham-On-Sea firefighter has officially retired this week after 20 years of service in the town.

Retained Fire fighter Steve Moxey has stepped down and was presented with a special long-service certificate to mark the milestone by crewmembers at the station in Marine Drive.

Steve joined the service on 15th June 1994 and has since then been involved in thousands of incidents during his two decades of front line service.

“Being on-call day and night for this length of time requires a lot of commitment and sacrifices that all the family have to make,” said Burnham station officer Ian Hazleton.

“Steve was always quite a character who was renowned for keeping the fire appliance bays swept very clean. He will be missed by his colleagues here at Burnham and we all wish him all the very best for the future.”
