A dozen traders will be selling a wide range of locally-grown food when Burnham-On-Sea’s monthly farmers market returns to the town centre today (Friday, April 25th).
The market will be held in the High Street from 9am-1pm with stalls offering local produce including pork, game, beef, vegetables, cakes, cheese, pies, bakery items and milk.
Market co-ordinator Steph Keeble said: “If you’re getting the garden sorted and hoping for alfresco dining opportunities, we will have produce for you. Clare at In Clover will be on hand to discuss the best plants for your garden and to help you choose willow plant supports for climbers.”
“Our farmers have a wide selection of BBQ-ready burgers and sausages including venison, beef, pork and goats meat or traditional cuts for roasting or casseroles. Ellises Farm will also have their own charcuterie, including air dried hams, salamis and chorizos, which are hugely popular. They are very versatile for deli-style sandwiches, adding to pizza or simply serving buffet style with salad and a selection of local cheeses from Times Past or Wookey Farm and speciality breads from Taylors.”
Friday’s stalls include: Ellises Farm – fresh pork and charcuterie; G M Country Sports – game in season and venison year round; In Clover – hardy perennial ornamental plants and handmade willow structures; Jan Bakes – tasty traditional cakes; Moorland Farm – Aberdeen Angus beef; Portbridge Farm – fresh vegetables from Chew Magna; Red Chilli Shop – chilli sauces and hot food on the day; Somerset Fudge – plus truffles and chocolates; Taylors Traditional Bakers – stylish range of speciality breads; The Humble Pie – very popular pies with high quality ingredients; Times Past Cheese Dairy- a variety of flavoured cheeses and traditional cheddars; Wookey Farm – goats milk, cheese and meat plus their own lamb; and the Burnham Community stall.
