Flowers laid in memory of Dylan, two years after Burnham jetty tragedy

-

Flowers were laid on Burnham’s seafront on Tuesday evening (August 19th) in memory of four year-old Dylan Cecil who drowned after falling from the town’s jetty exactly two years ago.

Dylan Cecil died in the sea on August 19th 2012 and his grandparents were among those who left flowers next to a plaque at the top of the jetty just before 6pm, the exact time as the tragedy.

Jackie and David McCollum, pictured, said they were “touched and deeply grateful” for the floral tributes left in memory of the toddler.

A number of safety improvements have been made since the tragedy, including extra warning signs on and around the jetty, a new audible warning system and an enhanced beach lifeguard service.
