A new fantasy children’s book set in Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens has been published this week.

Berrow author Linda Bond has unveiled ‘The Marine Cove Princess’, a short story for children inspired by the seafront gardens.

The idea for the book came about after a discussion with Marine Cove’s Community Gardener, Jacqui Strong.

“We got talking about how marvellous it would be for a fantasy children’s story to be written based around the gardens, and in particular this superb pool. It was a wonderful idea and the plans for the book quickly started forming,” said Linda.

“The end result is a short story aimed at children that features a young girl going through a tough time in her life who is inspired by what she happens when she visits the gardens. She discovers a positive new purpose in her life.”

The short story is available now as an eBook for the Kindle via Amazon here and it will also be published in hard back this autumn. The front cover was designed by local teenager Megan Masters.

Linda – who has written four previous locally-based fantasy books – says she is also planning a further Marine Cove book based around the cherub statue.
