Burnham-On-Sea youth club launches cooking challenge

-

A Burnham-On-Sea youth club is set to hold its own version of Ready, Steady, Cook to encourage young people to try cooking.

The Zone Youth Club, which meets at the town’s BAY Centre in Cassis Close, is holding the challenge on June 3rd, 10th and 17th June.

The club is asking teams of young people to take part in the three-week cooking programme.

Each group will be given a budget and will be asked to plan, buy and cook a dish.

All dishes will be judged and the top dishes will be entered into a bake-off on 1st July.

“The aim is to encourage young people to have a go at cooking, learn skills such as planning, budgeting, shopping and cooking, and to experiment with food and have fun,” said Jonathan Smith, volunteer at The Zone.

“We are also offering free spaces to young people to gain a Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification which is completed online.”

“Thanks to 02Think Big we are able to offer sessions like these for young people to learn valuable new skills.”

To take part, contact either Andrea White or Jonathan Smith on 01278 722100 or andreawhite@sryp.org.uk or jonathansmith@sryp.org.uk
