Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Monday Club have taken part in their annual Community Games this week.

Held outside in the sunshine at the Bay Centre, members competed in a variety of different activities including tennis, egg and spoon races, sack races and hoola hooping.

The Community Games was created to give people up and down the country the chance to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games. Inspired by the Games, Community Games was the idea of Legacy Trust UK and has been funded by the Government’s Social Action Fund for the last two years and is now supported by Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP).

The Monday Club provides support and help to those with learning difficulties.

This week’s event was led by Jonathan Smith, who last week won an award for his work in promoting sport in the area, as reported here.

If you are interested in hosting a Community Games event, Jonathan can be contacted at the Bay Centre in Cassis Close, Burnham on Mondays or by email here.
