-

Burnham-On-Sea experienced its coldest day of the year on Monday (December 29th), creating these icy scenes.

Temperatures in Burnham plunged to -5.3°c overnight, leaving icy stretches across the area.

Motorists and pedestrians in Burnham have been warned to take extra care on slippery roads and pavements as the cold snap is set to continue through this week.

The Met Office has issued a yellow cold weather warning for the region, which is in place until the middle of this week.

The warning is triggered as soon as the risk is 60 per cent or above for any of the severe weather thresholds to be breached. Milder conditions are forecast to arrive later in the week.

Our photos show the scenes at Apex Park, Marine Cove, Edithmead Church and the River Brue on Monday morning.
