A special technology evening was held by Burnham-On-Sea’s Chamber of Trade on Tuesday (February 25th) when social networking was the hot topic.

Members of the trade organisation heard how businesses in Burnham are successfully using services such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Skype to boost their trade.

Several Burnham traders also explained how they are using ‘Google 360’ to provide customers with virtual tours of the interior of their businesses.

“It was a great meeting that demonstrated how local businesses are taking full advantage of new technology to maximise their trade,” said a spokesman. “The evening also provided plenty of valuable tips and advice.”

Burnham Chamber of Trade holds regular meetings and events throughout the year for the benefit of business people in the town.

The group is currently planning a visit to Parliament for members over the coming weeks. There are also a number of initiatives being planned to boost trade in the town, including shop window competitons and a new edition of Burnham’s shopping guide brochure. Membership of the Chamber costs from £10 per year – more details are available here.
