Cashless payment machines formally launched in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Motorists who use council car parks in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge can now pay for their parking without coins.

Sedgemoor District Council has this week formally launched a cashless payment system in its local car parks to make it easier for drivers to pay.

These include car parks in Highbridge’s Bank Street, Burnham’s Lynton Road, Oxford Street, Pier Street (East, West and South) and Berrow Road.

Motorists will benefit from features such as text confirmation, a reminder text when a parking session is due to expire and the option to top-up their session.

Cllr John Swayne, Portfolio Holder for Community, pictured, attended this week’s launch and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Cashless parking is a much more flexible system, which will provide a quick, easy and safe way for motorists to pay for parking sessions via their mobile phone, in addition to the existing pay and display machines which will remain in place. We also hope it will encourage motorists to stay for longer in the town centre.”

To use the new service, provided by Bemrose Mobile, pre-register a vehicle online at www.phoneandpay.co.uk, download the app by searching ‘Phone and Pay parking’, call 01823-210302 or text the vehicle registration number to 07786 207708.
