The organisers of Monday night’s Highbridge and Burnham Carnival have announced the group of VIPs who will lead the procession.

In celebration of Hillview Junior Carnival Club’s 40th anniversary this year, four queens will lead the parade.

They will include last year’s Queen Emma Nicholson, 2007 Queen Kayley Elton, 2005 Queen Chloe Baker and Sian Fisher from Hillview Carnival Club.

Carnival Secretary Linda Bullimore, pictured with the girls, said: “We wanted to do something special this year to mark the anniversary and therefore have several Carnival Queens from previous years leading the parade – it will be a great start to the evening.”

Last year’s queen, Emma Nicholson, said: “I really loved it last year and am really looking forward to Monday night’s parade. The excitement is really building and I just hope the weather stays good.”

It comes after the carnival organisers decided to rearrange the usual Carnival Queen Pageant, which usually takes place in the summer to select the new Queen and Princesses. In future, it will be held in January or February.
