Burnham carnival queens to lead parade to mark Hillview’s 40th year

-

Organisers of this year’s Highbridge and Burnham Carnival have this week invited former Carnival Queens to get in contact to take part in this year’s procession.

In celebration of Hillview Junior Carnival Club’s 40th anniversary, the organisers of this year’s parade on November 3rd are looking for past carnival queens to come forward.

They will be leading the parade alongside the 2013 Carnival Queen Emma Nicholson, pictured right at last weekend’s youth fun day, and representatives from Hillview.

It comes after the carnoval organisers decided to postpone and delay the Carnival Queen Pageant, which usually takes place in the summer to select the new Queen and Princesses.

“The opportunity for future Carnival Queens will be determined in the New Year with the pageant to be held in January or February,” the carnival’s Linda Bullimore told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The decision is taken with the vision of enhanced promotion time for the Pageant to take place in a quieter period of the year. With this, there will be the prospect of the winning incumbent using her year to benefit charitable promotions as well as creating Carnival goodwill throughout the summer leading up to the November procession.”
