Winemaker raises a glass to celebrate winning Burnham Brew-Off

-

A winemaker from Weston won the top award at a home brewing competition during Burnham-On-Sea’s Food and Drink Festival on Saturday.

Mark Davies, above, won the ‘Great Burnham Brew Off’ with his fruity wine in a contest where amateur brewers competed to make the best drinks.

“I’m overjoyed to have won – I’ve never entered a competition like this before,” Mark told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“I take my wine making seriously and put a lot of effort into using lots of fruit to create the perfect taste and flavour. I use about 6lb of fruit per gallon of wine.”

Other merit winners were Liam Penn, who was last year’s winner, and Graham Holland. The judges praised the overall standard of entries.

Big crowds turned out to visit Saturday’s Food and Drink Festival, which was held in venues across the town centre over the course of seven hours.
