Two of Burnham-On-Sea’s oldest residents have celebrated their 100th and 103rd birthdays this week.

Joy Cotton, pictured right with husband Harry, marked her 100th birthday with a special celebration with neighbours, family and friends at Berrow Golf Club on Tuesday (October 7th).

She enjoyed a surprise visit by Burnham’s Mayor, Cllr Martin Cox, who dropped in to wish her a happy day.

Joy said her secret to looking so young is “keeping busy and doing things you enjoy.”

And another Burnham resident, Katherine Owen, known as Katie, pictured below, marked her 103rd birthday on Monday with a celebration at Elizabeth Court with friends and residents.

She has been living in her own flat there for about five years after moving from The Midlands to be nearer her family. Katie effortlessly blew out the candles on her cake and enjoyed a tea party with friends.
