Somerset Floods: BARB boat crew helps flood-hit Muchelney villagers

-

Crews from Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue helped residents in the flood-hit village of Muchelney on Sunday (February 9th).

BARB’s inshore rescue boat and its volunteer crewmembers helped to ferry more than 20 villagers between Langport and Muchelney, which has been cut-off by floods for over six weeks.

Villager Jane Pickard said: “We are all grateful to BARB for helping us along with other organisations. They are providing a super service.”

Along with people, the boat was also used to deliver supplies to the ‘island village’.

BARB’s crews had a busy weekend after spending Saturday in Moorland where they helped to evacuate residents from the floods, as featured here.
