Thousands of pounds was raised for Children In Need across the Burnham-On-Sea area on Friday (November 14th) during a series of fundraising events.

Scores of schools, local businesses and groups joined in the annual BBC fundraising marathon with many fun events.

Curtain Call School of Performing Arts, right, raised £100 with its celebration for Children In Need. Students generously gave their pocket money and took part in a host of activities at the studio, including a dance in pyjamas, a name the panda game, a sweet jar contest and a bake sale! “Students and parents have been incredibly supportive,” said Principal Patricia Ham. “It’s been a pleasure to see them enter into the spirit of the week and unite for such a good cause!”

Octopus Daycare Centre staff and children in Burnham dressed up for Children In Need. ‘Not everybody needs to look like a Superhero to be a Superhero’ was the theme. Lots of colourful costumes were worn and the children took part in helping the activities. They raised around £100 for the special cause and had loads of fun!

Burnham’s Fairstart Nursery children, right, and staff also took part in the fundraising with a superhero fancy dress contest to raise money for Children In Need.

And children and Staff at Footprints Nursery held a sponsored walk along Burnham’s seafront. The children had made headbands while staff and children wore pyjamas and onesies.

Burnham and Highbridge Gateway club raised £127.50 with a Pyjama Party at the BAY Centre for Children In Need. The members and volunteers raised the money with a raffle, selling cakes and donating the night’s entry fee.

Andrew Rose Childminding in Highbridge had a fun day, making and selling cakes and biscuits. The children dressed up as superheroes and wore pyjamas to help raise funds.
