The launch of super-fast 4G mobile Internet access in Burnham-On-Sea has been delayed until next year, it has been announced this week.

Mobile network Three had said just last week that it was on track to launch 4G in Burnham by the end of this year.

However, Sophie Longley, Three’s Corporate Communications Manager, contacted Burnham-On-Sea.com on Tuesday (December 2nd) with news of the last-minute delay.

“Unfortunately, the 4G roll-out that was planned for Burnham-On-Sea by the end of 2014 has now been pushed back to 2015,” she said.

She was unable to give further details about what has caused the delay. A specific timescale for the 2015 launch date will be announced on Burnham-On-Sea.com.

4G gives mobile users faster, more reliable broadband internet for devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops.

It is around five times faster than existing 3G mobile services already available in Burnham. Theoretically, it can provide download speeds of up to 100Mbps depending on your mobile device and location.
