Torrential rain could cause flooding in Burnham area this week

-

Torrential rain could lead to more flooding in the Burnham-On-Sea area this week, the Met Office has warned.

A ‘yellow warning’ has been issued for heavy rain and strong winds today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday).

“Further rain, some heavy, will affect southwest England during Monday afternoon and into the early evening,” says the Met Office.

“Rainfall totals are likely to be variable, with 5-15mm falling widely. Given the saturated ground, the public should be aware that further localised flooding is possible.”

It added that another spell of heavy rain, accompanied by strong to gale force winds, will quickly spread northeastwards across the UK early on Tuesday.
