Burnham
cul-de-sac's Xmas lights raise over £5,000 for good causes

Residents
of a Burnham-On-Sea cul-de-sac who transformed their homes into
a Christmas wonderland featuring thousands of fairy lights have
collected over £5,000 for two local charities.
The
residents of Trinity Close have this week
presented the proceeds of the collections at their annual fundraiser
to hovercraft rescue charity BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and
PETAL, the Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust which helps local
cancer hospices.
The
colourful lights display, which attracted national TV attention
last December,
has raised a grand total of £39,742.98 for local charities
since 2001 - including £5,003 in 2011.
Resident
Paula Payne told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "A big thank you goes
to everyone who came to see our display over the Christmas period
and for donating to these two good causes. We are delighted with
the incredible sum raised."
A
BARB spokesman thanked the group for their generous donation,
saying the funds would help towards new equipment at the hovercraft
station.
