Burnham lifeboat investigates ‘struggling’ yacht in Bridgwater Bay

-

A Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat was launched on Sunday morning (May 30th) amid concern for a yacht in Bridgwater Bay.

A walker on Burnham’s seafront contacted Coastguards after spotting the yacht apparently struggling during strong onshore winds.

Burnham RNLI’s Staines Whitfield lifeboat was launched at 11.25am, as pictured, to check on the welfare of those onboard the vessel, which was north of Stert Island. However, the yacht’s skipper did not require assistance.

“This was a false alarm with good intent and we would always urge anyone who has suspicions that a boat is in difficulty to contact us,” a Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
