Holidaymakers at a Brean caravan park have this week handed over a bumper cheque for thousands of pounds to the charity that runs Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercrafts.

A summer of fundraising at Diamond Farm Holiday Park in Weston Road has raised £3,448 towards BARB’s running costs.

The bumper cheque was handed over to the charity’s crewmembers at the campsite on Sunday (October 3rd).

Jayne Collins from the Diamond Farm Fundraisers said: “We are delighted to have raised such a big sum for BARB, which does a fantastic job in Brean and Burnham in helping to keep our beaches safe. It has been a difficult year to raise the money due to poor weather and the recession – our thanks go to everyone who has helped us.”

The group raised the cash from car boot sales and pub collections plus events at the park, which included a sports day, a summertime Christmas lights display and a sponsored pyjama day.

BARB Chairman Mark Newman thanked the group for their generous support, adding: “We are very grateful to everyone at Diamond Farm for their fantastic support, which now extends over almost ten years.”
