Stranded yacht towed to safety in Burnham-On-Sea

Storm-force winds and high seas left this 33 foot yacht stranded on a river bank in Burnham-On-Sea this week.

The yacht Quodos - owned by Burnham businessman Colin Morris - was tossed onto the southern banks of the River Brue, as pictured here, after the 70mph winds caused it drag its moorings at Burnham Sailing Club's pontoons.

The yacht floated down the estuary and was eventually left 'high and dry' on a river bank.

Relieved Mr Morris told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Wednesday (March 12th): "We managed to relaunch it on the next high tide by towing it free with a speedboat owned by one the Sailing Club members. It's now firmly tethered to the pontoons!"
